Having attended East Ham Grammar school I have been associated with the Old Esthameians for over 50 years.
After returning to London following college I played a few games for the club and joined the committee in 2001.
I used to occasionally make an appearance for the team. This only happened if we were leading by several goals and purely for glory hunting purposes.
Honours
I ran the 5th XI who were league winners which resulted in me receiving the clubman of the year award.
Elected Roles
I then managed the 3rd XI before becoming the referee secretary, a post I held for over 20 years.

Born towards the end of W.W.2, in September 1944, grew up in East Ham, and was fortunate enough to gain admission to the hallowed institution of E.H.G.S. for Boys in 1956. Joined the Old Boys soon after leaving school, and enjoyed a career extending 30 plus years.
Couldn’t precisely calculate the total number of games played, however, some discerning judges might suggest it was far too many!!
Finally hung up the boots at 52, during which time was fortunate to have played in all sides, in all positions, including a final season in goal for the 7th Eleven.
Was also able to experience possibly the most important development in the club’s history, when elevated from the Southern Olympian League to the Southern Amateur League. At various times, successfully captained a side, and played in teams winning leagues, AFA Cups, and Old Boys Cups.
In appreciation of the many great times and lasting friendships afforded by club membership, was able to offer a little in return by participating in the management of the club by service on the committee in differing roles and assisting in the financial well being by organising revenue generating social activities at the much lamented original clubhouse.
Honours
Proud to say as a result of these efforts, was a very early recipient of the Clubman of the Year award.
